Friends of Royal Park is up and running and enthusiastic, community minded people are planning great things for the community of Buninyong.

Get Involved! Come to the next meeting on the xth of November in the Old Library, Warrenheip Street, Buninyong at 7.30pm. (Date to be confirmed).

As you can see, this is a test web site, and real information will be progressively added.

For thoses of you scratching you heads asking "Where is Royal Park?" - it is the official name of the old footy oval.

FoRP and the Buninyong Community Garden ran a stall at the Ballarat Community Garden's Harvest Festival on Sunday the 18th of April 2010.

Gardeners from Mt Helen discovered that they could come South to Buninyong and join our garden, and some Buninyong residents were glad to find out about their local opportunities.

Bigger does not necessarily mean better when it comes to trees. When advanced trees are transplanted, they may lose up to 90% of their functioning roots. It is little wonder that it can often take a long time for the tree to start growing again - sometimes years.

It is great to see something happening around Royal Park - we are improving and looking after the area.

Planet Ark - National Tree Day

Tree Planting Day - at Buninyong's Royal Park (The old footy ground)

We will have a planting and working bee on 21st June, starting at 9.30 am, with Catherine King, your Federal MP for Ballarat and Judy Verlin, the Mayor. FoRP will be presented with the Federal Government's Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Cheque for our Tanks!

The plantings are courtesy of the PlanetArk National Tree Day and Leigh Catchment Group.

You can register for the day by going to http://treeday.planetark.org/involved/volunteer.cfm and click on find a site link and type in Buninyong.

Our aim is to plant 500 indigenous shrubs and trees on the day; there will be more information in the next Buninyong News.
